You've officially converted me!

When Joe and Dave asked me to join the 2Hot4Ice team last year as a tournament director I was slightly hesitant. I have played ice hockey my whole life and am very involved in the ice community, but had never played or even seen any roller hockey. Yes, I'm ashamed to admit that I was one of those ignorant ice hockey fans who thought roller hockey was just a silly version of ice hockey. However, after spending a week watching the 2Hot4Ice Nationals last year in Raleigh, and the past weekend in Atlanta with the new Torhs2Hot4Ice crew, I can now say I'm officially a roller hockey fan! (Woo! Hoo!

I am continually amazed at the sense of community and level of talent at these events. The kids hang out at the rink the whole day and watch other teams play, the parents tailgate in the parking lot, and kids who don't even know each other are playing together in the inflatable knee hockey rink. It's just this incredible sense of community and love for the sport and it's totally infectious!

One of my favorite parts of the tournament this past weekend in Atlanta was seeing how many girls were playing along side the boys. I'm a huge fan and supporter of girls hockey (both ice and roller now) and it's so exciting to see so many girls playing the sport and playing it just as good as the boys! I'm really looking forward to helping the Torhs2Hot4Ice team grow the girls' and women's side of these events.

I've gotten the opportunity to get to know some of the teams now and their team parents and I hope to get to know everyone else as the season goes on! See you in Ft Myers in May!
