Playoffs begin to take shape!
It's always interesting when the last round robin games in a division are approaching. The pathway to the boards gets more and more congested as everyone begins to talk about "what ifs" and "whys" and "how comes." Teams try and figure out where they will land with the tie breakers and many teams will change an entire gameplan trying to stay on top.
Today, we will get to the Championship games in the atom, mite, squirt, high school and all mens' divisions. Pro will take shape as well as the playoffs will take place later tonight.
We got an early start to a cold morning. Mens are finishing their round robin games as we speak and the peewee division has an exciting game going on right now between Bridgeville and Tour Roadrunners 99/00. It's going to be a packed day and I need some coffee ASAP. I opened this morning, and I am not a morning person AT ALL. But, for the greater good (roller hockey), I put on that game changing smile and came to the rink. Things are running smoothly this morning and players, coaches, family and friends are pumped about playoffs starting today.
I know the cliche is: "it's not how you start; it's how you finish." But in this case it truly is about gaining momentum going into the season. Personally, I believe we can only build off Winter Cup this year. The first event of the year can set you up for a great finish. We are still about five months away from Nationals, but that time will fly!! All teams here have expressed an interest in attending nationals and everyone should continue checking the site for updates concerning the event. It truly will be the best one yet. I'm encouraged by the attendance here at the Steel City Winter cup and excited for what the 2014 season will bring. We have some awesome plans in the works and you will NOT want to miss it.
We will continue to update you as the weekend goes on. Pro will be starting here in about an hour, so we are going to keep trucking along. Keep checking facebook and twitter as well for all the updates!
