Playoff Push

Well the second day of the 2013 TORHS2Hot4Ice Winter Cup is winding down and the playoff brackets have all pretty much been finalized.  We saw some amazing hockey today, and in my opinion the highlight of the day was the Tour Bordercats against the RB Selects in the Pro Division.  RB Selects controlled the play for the majority of the first two periods and led the Bordercats 2-1 with 21 seconds left.  Ryan Perry took advantage of a bounce in the slot and scored his second goal of the game to tie things up at 2.  20 seconds later Perry took a pass off the far side boards and sent a last minute desperation shot on net that snuck by the RB Selects goalie and gave the Bordercats an exciting 3-2 win.  The Pro Divisions top 4 teams all went undefeated through round robin and seed 1 and seed 4 were seperated by just two goals against.  Here is the Pro Division breakdown for tomorrow.

Pro Tier 1:

1st Round Games: (3) Tour Mudcats vs. (6) RB Selects   & (4) Tour Bordercats vs. (5) Alkali Impulse

1st Round Byes: (1) Alkali RPD & (2) LA PAMA Cyclones

Pro Tier 2:

Semi Finals: (7) LA PAMA Chupacabras vs. (10) Mission Black Ice & (8) Tour Excitement vs. (9) Infamous

In the Bantam Division Mission Coast 2 Coast has dominated play giving up just 2 goals in the round robin.  They've been led by Austin Resseguie and goaltender Aaron Mizgalski this weekend, and head into the playoffs as the top seed.  Here are the semi-final matchups for Bantam.

(1) Mission Coast 2 Coast vs. (4) Stars & (2) Mission Black Ice vs. (3) Team Fieldhouse

The Midget Division has been wide open and fun to watch.  It's been great to see some of the nations best talent like Joey Dolce, Matt Gerger, Brycon Johnson, and Tyler Kraft among others skating this weekend.  After round robin play Mission Black Ice took home the top seed going 4-0 and Mission Coast 2 Coast took the 2nd seed going 3-0-1.

Bye: (1) Mission Black Ice

Semi-Finals: (2) Mission Coast 2 Coast vs. (3) Team Fieldhouse

Juniors is always one of my favorites to watch, and the main reason is that I've watched the majority of these players grow up playing this great sport.  We had 8 teams this weekend in Detroit in this division and it didn't dissapoint.  We got to see a number of current Pro players like Chris Kendall, Cody Kettler, Ryan Perry, and Robert Bermann play as well as many of the Pro Divisions future stars.

Junior AAA:

Semi-Finals: (1) Mission Coast 2 Coast vs. (4) Mission Black Ice & (2) Tour Excitement vs. (3) FTB

Junior AA:

Semi-Finals: (5) Mississauga Mission Rattlers vs. (8) Buffalo City Hawks & (6) Buffalo Wings vs. (7) Wolfpack

New to TORHS2Hot4Ice this year is the Mens Aluminum Division.  We have decided to open up this division to allow a new group of players the opportunity to play at the National level.  There are plenty of adults out there who love this game too much, but are relatively new to it to not finally give them a place to play.  TORHS2Hot4Ice is extremely excited to be the first major tournament series to offer this division to the adult roller hockey players out there.  So you all know, this division is being offered at both North and South Nationals this summer, and we expect great turn outs.  Important note: You will have to qualify your team for both Mens Aluminum and Mens Bronze this year to make sure that we can make these two divisions as balanced as possible.  This weekend we've seen solid goaltending from Impulse' David Princler and Revolutions Jimmy Bryant has been lighting the lamp all tournament long.  Here are your semi-final matchups for the Aluminum Division.

Semi-Finals: (1) Impulse vs. (4) Storm & (2) Revolution vs. (3) Buffalo Steel

The Mens group this weekend featured 15 teams ranging from Detroit to Buffalo, Long Island, St. Louis, and Canadian teams like Mississauga and the Montreal Ducks.  The final couple of games are still being played now, and the seeding are all up in the air still so we will update you on these matchups tomorrow morning.

Don't forget that every game tomorrow is win or go home, and Sundays on Rink B always give us some major surprises.  For those of you reading this that are local the Pro Tier 1 Final is at 3:10 P.M. and is sure to entertain no matter what two teams end up playing for the cash prize!

Good night to all of you from TORHS2Hot4Ice, and we hope to see you all at a rink for one of our Regional events this season!
