Firebreathers Capture Gold

The Cub Division was an absolute riot this weekend!  We had great goals, some amazing saves, and even two players on opposite teams that were caught up in their conversation at center during play and had no clue the puck was right next to them.

The division is always one of my favorites to watch, and this weekend was no different.  The Firebreathers would face off against Five Hole Storm Troopers in the championship game after Five Hole knocked off Dreamsports Dragons 4-3 in one of the best games of the weekend.  Landon Boucher would steal the show in the semi-final game netting the final 3 goals for the Storm Troopers.

In the championship game the Firebreathers brought their A game.  They got out to an early lead and never looked back taking down the Storm Troopers 8-5.  Big performances from Brad Camp, Christopher Goodwin, and Gavin Sudseth helped the Firebreathers take home the TORHS2Hot4Ice Championship back to Georgia!  Another huge thank you to George Goodwin for bringing his little guys up to North Carolina, and watching his enthusiasm and positive encouragement to all the players on both teams was awesome!

The Pro division here in Raleigh has exceeded all of our expectations.  A ton of big names are playing for all the teams down here including Itan Chavira with the Alkali Assault, and Juaquin Chavira and Junior Cadiz for the Tour Excitement.  The game of the day was when those two teams matched up.  Assault got out to a 3-0 lead, then the Excitement rallied back to take a 4-3 lead and the teams traded goals to make it 6-6 with 40 seconds left.  Assault took a 7-6 lead with 18 seconds left, but then Corey Hodge tied things up at 7 as time expired.  The Assault would take home the W in the shootout 8-7.  I fully expect both of these teams to meet up again tomorrow at some point, at it should be another thriller.  There's a little bet for the Excitement guys that if they win the tournament, the one and only George Brown will be playing net in the Masters Division next Summer for Juaquin's Masters team, which will give everyone at the event a little comedic relief!

In other divisions finishing up today we have Alkali Assault White vs. Broadway Bullies in the Gold Championship, Alkali Gamblers vs. Napalm in the Silver Championship, and in the highly anticipated Masters Championship it's USA Clinics vs. Phat Tape Silver Backs.

We'll be back to give you some recaps of the 3 finals later tonight along with the Pro playoff picture!
